SF Sketchfest 2012 Update!
Once again, I’ve been selected to perform at SF Sketchfest and they have blessed me with spots on two more awesome shows this year. This year I will be pulling double hosting duty and I’m sure both shows will be awesome. If you wanna come check out a show you can send me an email, tweet at me, or send me a message on facebook. They should be fun and I shouldn’t be as cripplingly nervous as last year!
Come to Rooftop Comedy Stand Up Showcase at the Purple Onion: Saturday January 21st at 10:30. I will be doing a 15 minute set up front and hosting the shit out of this show.
Or come to Sketch Showcase at the Dark Room: Friday February 3rd at 8. I’ll be doing a 7 minute set up front and hosting throughout.
Hit me up if you wanna come or if you have any questions.
So if you haven’t heard yet, I received word from the owner Tuesday morning that Happy Hour Comedy at Madrone Art Bar has been discontinued. I started this room back in September of 2009 basically to get my friends more stage time and did not anticipate the show running as long as it did, but I am grateful for everyone who came to support the show, as well as the comics that made the show. I know that a lot of comics hated that room. Even comics that were regulars at Madrone hated the room, but Madrone is a room where my friends and I had to struggle for attention. We had to deal with lack of attendance, overabundance of attendance, volume, the length of the room, hipsters, drunkards, and gigantic paintings of naked white women. Despite that, many of us managed to turn in great sets there, and even if we ate it, which happened regularly, it helped make our skins a little more thick. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to run the room. It was stage time, regardless of the fact that Madrone may not have been an ideal room for comedy, but it was my room and I (kinda) loved it. Farewell, Madrone. Fuck hipsters.
I’ve just been given the unfortunate information that the Madrone Art Bar Happy Hour Comedy Show has been discontinued. It’s been a fun year-and-a-half; kudos to Jules Posner, Katie Compa, and Nick Palm for operating a show in a cool venue. May, two dollar beer fill the cavern of our hearts.
